2012

Sorry for my lack of blogging the past few months. I feel like I am just now coming up for air! We had a busy fall (understatement of the year) and have finally settled back into life in New Mexico.

Reece and I have been to Midland, Dallas, Abilene, Las Vegas, Denver, and Houston in the past 2 months. We are glad to have our bags unpacked for a little while and just relax!

I wanted to post some of my goals for 2012. Maybe this blog will hold me to it!

1. Take more pictures. I feel like 2011 wasn’t documented except for weddings and a few family functions. Our life in New Mexico currently doesn’t exist!!

2. Post on the blog once a week. I am going to set a reminder in my phone (how did we ever live without them?)

3. Work on saving money. Not so much fun, but necessary.

4. Grow in my relationships new and old. We have met so many people by taking this job and I hope to add them as life friends.

5. Eat healthier and work out more often. All the traveling I previously mentioned has taken a toll on our schedule. Back to the 5 am grind!

I hope those that read this blog will stick around for more of our life!

Cheers to 2012! May it be the best one yet!

The Yard: Part 2

Here are some pictures of the rest of the yard which consisted of more rock and tarp, planting new trees and shrubs, outlining the grass and laying sod, and extending the patio. We finished the whole yard in 6 weeks and love being out there! Thanks to all our helpers Reece’s family and Trey J. We couldn’t have done it without you!

The yard: Part 1.

When we bought our house a year ago, we knew a daunting task was ahead of us. We tried all we could to avoid it, but finally we have completed our backyard. Our house is on a double lot and although it will help in the resale (fingers crossed!!) it was a huge undertaking.

In April, we rented the trencher and put in the sprinkler system.

After 2 months of not working in the yard due to travel and my sister’s wedding, we started back up by completing the front side yard. We had to tarp and rock. Definitely more work then we had anticipated, but it looks fabulous!

The Wedding

Our wedding was absolutely perfect and I could not have dreamed of a better day!

We choose to get married in Abilene, Texas. First Baptist Church of Abilene is where my grandparents and parents were married. I knew it would be special for me and them to have our wedding there. I also wanted to get married there because my grandfather did the remodel and turned it into one of the most gorgeous churches ever!

All our friends and family were in attendance and made it the best weekend ever!

Enjoy some pictures from May 1, 2010!

Engaged!

After Reece found out about his job he started looking for a ring. He asked my parents permission and then he was off trying to plan the proposal.

Reece and I are not extravagant people, so an extravagant proposal would have been weird for us. It was simple and perfect and very “us”. Ellie, our little one, Has a ponytail and bow in her hair 90% of the time. Reece put the ring on her ponytail and carried her around til I noticed. I hate to say I was a little preoccupied thinking about what shoes to wear to dinner with our “friends”. I did catch a glimpse and was speechless (rare moment). He then got the ring and let Ellie go and got down on one knee. He said some really nice things that I wish I remembered, but in that moment I forgot everything. Kirby (roommate and bff) was waiting with champagne and flowers in the living room.

I made a few quick calls to family and friends before running off for drinks at The Overton Hotel. Kirby was in the car and said she forgot her camera and would meet us there. I didn’t think anything of it and when we walked into the hotel both of our parents were there! It was a great evening and led to a great 6 months of whirlwind wedding planning! More on that in the next 2 posts.

Here are some pictures from October 30!

Welcome!

Welcome to our blog! I have debated starting a blog over the past year, but have decided we have too much going on in our lives not to. For more about “us”, go to the about me section.  I have no real plans for what I want this to be or be about as of right now, but hope to share a little view into our lives in New Mexico.
